Our weekly training session in the pool.
Due to covid precautions we are restricting the number of people in the pool at any one time to 12 so we need to ask all members to book a place using the booking system below.
A limited number of general swimmers will also be welcomed back tonight. Swimmers will have their own laned off area – they will not have access to the deep end so cannot swim full lengths.
COVID POOL PROCEDURES
Introduction
These procedures are in addition to general rules on social distancing. They are designed to enable us to use the pool whilst complying with Welsh Government rules and the procedures developed by the pool staff whose guidance must be respected at all times.
One Golden Lion SAC officer will be present poolside to monitor compliance with procedures and advise accordingly.
These procedures will evolve over time as we understand them and as conditions change.
Booking
Go onto the website www.goldenlionsac.org.uk and book a place, out of necessity numbers are limited to 12, initially first come, first served, then we will develop a rota to ensure fair opportunities for all.
Please do not book a place or attend the club if you have COVID symptoms, which are: –
- a high temperature: this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough: this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste: this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
Entering the pool area
You will be asked to sign in as you enter the pool to confirm you have no COVID symptom.
Enter the sports centre through the automatic doors and follow the one way route through the first aid room into the pool, there is a hand sanitiser station near the entry, please use it.
Observe the one way system around the pool (anti-clockwise) at all times.
Aura have set up 12 numbered chairs along the deep end wall and carpark side wall, one for each diver to store their kit adjacent to (do not move the chairs from their set location), these numbers are also matched on the changing room cubicles should you require a changing area at the end of the pool session.
Please note we will not be meeting in the room over the pool as it is difficult to maintain COVID rules in this area.
Leaving the pool area
Please ensure you have collected all your possessions prior to leaving the pool, anything left behind will be quarantined and bagged for 72 hours if of value, or disposed of if of no value.
Exit the pool via the one way system (though the changing room) and through the right hand door in reception, as signed.
Diving Equipment
Enter the pool through the fire exit facing the AstroTurf pitch for the purpose of leaving equipment.
Diving equipment can be left at the deep end and collected when you enter.
Pick up your equipment and take to it your changing chair.
Divers to be responsible for assembling their own kit and turning their air on.
It is acceptable to assist another diver with putting their kit on but they need to adjust it themselves.
There will be a bucket of disinfectant available to rinse mouthpieces before and after use.
Do not share mouthpieces.
If practicing AS work, disinfect the AS before and after each new person uses it.
When carrying out your buddy check do not breath into the octopus simply purge it to show it is operational.
We will develop systems for training and refresher sessions as the season progresses.
Changing
Come to the pool already showered and changed (including wearing your wetsuit if possible).
Please note the disabled toilet will be available, but wet side toilets will be out of use, please follow hygiene procedures identified by Aura when using the toilets.
Leave your clothes on one of the numbered chairs poolside and change there.
After swimming you may use the cubicle with the same number as your chair to change into dry clothes, showers will not be available.
Exit the pool promptly.
Collect your equipment from the fire door.
Whilst in the water
Divers in full kit surrounded by chlorinated water are at low risk of transmitting Covid but we must avoid contact with aerosols from regulators or snorkels.
No swimmers allowed (this may change).
Keep mask on and regulators (if diving) or snorkels (if snorkelling) in your mouth at all times whilst in the water. Communicate with hand signals).
Rinse regulators and masks in the water prior to leaving the pool.
